Health and Human Services Careers Academy

One option is to have a Health Careers Academy. Hall would partner with the Health/Medical Community to offer a program of study and services that would benefit both the Hall students and the students in the Health Community. What are your thoughts on this venture?

  1. I like this idea, especially if we train students to get the basic certifications that they pay a fortune for after graduation at schools like Eastern College and Heritage. Dental and Med assistant, billing, etc. Also would be great to tie in the childcare certification that PTech offers. Would have to consider the viability of finding a willing partner to provide the proper accreditation, staff, and facilities on campus. --McAlpine

  2. Introductory courses could be offered, and then students who are truly interested feed into the two programs at Metro that are already established. I don't know that it is realistic to think that we can provide a full program on our campus within the next year or two.

  3. Sounds great, but Let's do a survey of 9th, 10th, 11th grade students and list the specific course requirements and descriptions and Certification Test Requirements to see if we have enough interest in this type of academy. We need students who are willing and able to certify in the end.
